![]() įrom your Documents/Paradox/EU4/logs/ folder, attach system.log. Please attach your Documents/Paradox/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.Īlso if you have installed RivaTuner, RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.ĭXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). start the game with no mods active and test add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list. re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done. manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox/EU4 folders If the game appears as Running, then syncs and closes when you launch it from Steam, try creating a steamappid.txt in the game directory containing 261640. IF that doesn't help, Please do a full **clean** re-install: In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless. EU4 require at least Shader Model 3.0 to work properly.Įdit: I'm now getting an error when the paradox launcher opens saying "We don't have read/write access to the directory with game data. Edit: The second error message is "The graphics card detected does not support Shader Model 3.0. I apoloigise for the vague wording on what the second error message is, but I wanted to get this post written before I restart my computer again, and will try to update it when I try to start the game again. I have run the game on this computer in the past, aproximately 4 months ago with no issues, and have made no hardware changes in that time, however EU4 is now impossible to run or play. I have updated my graphics drivers, added EU4.exe as an exception to the ransomware part of my anti-virus, and tried reinstalling the game, all with no sucess. The only way I can close the game is a full restart of my computer. Task manager opens on my primary display, which is frozen behind the game so I cannot click on it, and often doesn't even show EU4 as running. About 25% of the time the game boots up and I can run it normally, and 75% of the time it freezes on the Europa Universalis 4 loading screen and doesn't progress.Īdditionally I cannot close the game from either scenario. Once that message is closed, a second message appears with another error message, but when closed the game begins to start. However I cannot find an adapter line in the settings file to edit. The first one says that the game is "Unable to create Graphics Device" and suggests setting "adapter=1" in the settings.txt file. ![]() By clicking on the game icon on my second screen I can get the game to open, but only after 2 error messages appear that I must first close. That popup just rubs it in.When I initally start the game through steam and click start on the paradox launcher that pops up, the game doesn't open and the display on my primary monitor freezes. But you know a small fraction of your userbase hates Steam with a passion - it was extensively discussed on the forums prior to the CK2 launch. I get that a separate Gamersgate non-Steam option wasn't commercially viable anymore, and that's okay. ![]() It's not cool to throw that thing in our face everytime we run the game. Can someone tell me how to disable this thing? I have no idea how I managed to get rid of it previously.Īnd Paradox: during the game's development, as many we us were unhappy to learn it would be Steam-only, you told us we'd only need to run Steam for updates. ![]() But tonight I've had to revalidate my files and, lo-and-behold, it's back in full force. I'd have no issue with it if it showed up once but it's every time.Įventually it miraculously went away and I was very happy about that. Never been a big fan in general.Ī few patches ago, Paradox added a 'Steam is not running' popup that warns you might be missing functionalities since its not running, etc, etc. I refuse to keep Steam running on my machine and only launch it to update the game. ![]()
